Precious metal recycling is not a black art it is a science.
Be sure of the amount of precious metal in your scrap, waste or bi-product, through accurate analysis.
Any other way of assessing the metal content, involves guess work. Guess work will cost you money! Buyers err on the side of caution when offering prices for materials when the metal content is only estimated.
Coated Components, Anodes, Turbine Blades, Electronics, Dental Scrap, Medical Items, Electronics, Catalysts, Residues and Sludge as examples, can all be processed to determine the precious metal content accurately.
Is there really a benefit to pre-processing ? Yes. You may only receive 50% or less of the metal value if material is not in a homogeneous form because it’s a guess as to the actual metal content.
Consider the Iridium coated, Titanium anodes in the image above. The only way to quantify the actual amount of Iridium, is to chemically strip the anodes, then sample and analyse the Iridium residue collected.
Quick Cash vs More Cash! If you do not go to the effort of making the material homogeneous and sampling it correctly, you risk getting much less value than you could if your precious metal containing material was homogenised first.
Once in a homogeneous form, your material can be analysed accurately and the best value determined.
We use multiple techniques to homogenise input materials. These techniques include: chemical treatments, milling, incineration, drying and powdering. The optimal technique to use depends on the format of the input and the quantity.
Once material is homogeneous, then it can then be sampled and analysed accurately.
